Despite talk of a more subdued year at haute horlogerie’s main showcase for the year, Watches and Wonders, Hublot appears to be holding nothing back despite already releasing a raft of headline-grabbers at LVMH Watch Week earlier this year. From the fusion of high-tech materials with iconic Sang Bleu geometric artistry in the Spirit of Big Bang Sang Bleu Sapphire, to the reinvention of its classic models with a modern twist, these novelties reaffirm Hublot’s position as a watch company capable of melding the worlds of material innovation, watchmaking creativity and technical prowess.

Hublot revisits its foundational family with the new Big Bang Integrated Time Only collection, paying homage to the brand’s 40-year legacy while catering to modern tastes. This iteration retains the hallmark features of the Big Bang series—its distinctive case with protruding “ears,” the iconic bezel with six H-shaped screws, skeleton hour and minute hands with a signature counterpoise, even-numbered dial indices from 2 to 12, and the rubberised crown. Beyond aesthetics, the essence of Hublot is encapsulated in its reduced 38mm diameter, a nod to the 1980s standard that embodies universal elegance, fitting any wrist size and appealing across genders.

This collection introduces six models, each harmonising the case and bracelet materials and colours. These include brushed titanium with black or blue dials, King Gold with similar dial options, and two ceramic versions—one in navy blue reflecting Hublot’s maritime heritage and the other in Black Magic, a deep black rendition across the case, bracelet, and dial. Each piece is engineered with a soft ferromagnetic steel dial for optimal protection against magnetic fields, ensuring chronometric precision.

Big Bang Unico Ceramic in Orange and Dark Green

Hublot’s latest marvel in its colourful ceramic collection is the Big Bang Unico in Orange and Dark Green ceramic, distinguished by its unique, vivid hues in tangerine and dark olive respectively. This follows the brand’s earlier ventures into brightly coloured ceramics with red in 2019 and yellow in 2021. The creation of these distinctly coloured ceramics required extensive research and development, focusing on the precise formulation of additives, optimal firing processes, and finishing techniques to achieve the material’s unparalleled vibrancy and durability. The watches boast a uniform, mirror-polished ceramic across all exterior elements, from the case to the integrated rubber strap featuring Hublot’s patented one-click system for effortless strap changes.

Limited to 250 pieces in each colour, the watches are powered by the in-house MHUB1280, a cutting-edge automatic flyback chronograph movement that offers a three-day power reserve. It retains Hublot’s aesthetic signature with a column wheel visible at 6 o’clock and a bi-compax layout—small seconds at 9 o’clock and a 60-minute counter at 3 o’clock, which includes an integrated date display. Additionally, the movement incorporates a silicon escapement and showcases a skeleton architecture, demonstrating Hublot’s fusion of high technology and watchmaking expertise.

Big Bang MP-11 Water Blue Sapphire

The new edition of the Hublot MP-11 captivates with its groundbreaking “Water Blue” sapphire casing, showcasing the maison’s unparalleled expertise in sapphire technology. This novel hue, its stunning luminosity and its resistance is achieved through a specialised chemical formulation and meticulous development processes, setting a new benchmark in the use of sapphire within the watch industry. Hublot’s commitment to innovation is further exemplified by the MP-11’s technical prowess, featuring a remarkable 14-day power reserve enabled by seven coaxial and vertical barrels. This design is facilitated by a bespoke 90° transmission mechanism, employing a helical worm gear to maintain the watch’s sleek profile.

Central to the MP-11’s functionality is the HUB9011, which comprises 270 components and includes a patented index-assembly system alongside a silicon escapement, ensuring protection against electromagnetic and thermal disturbances. The power reserve indicator, a subtly rotating disc, enhances readability through the magnifying sapphire crystal. Winding this horological masterpiece is made effortless either manually, via a large fluted crown, or with an electric stylus. This new version of the MP-11 not only continues Hublot’s long-standing tradition of horological innovation but also introduces a visually striking and technically superior watch that adheres to the most rigorous specifications for durability and water-resistance, embodying perfection in line with the MP collection’s spirit.

Spirit of Big Bang Sang Bleu Sapphire

This stunning sapphire crystal model celebrates the eight-year partnership between Hublot and Maxime Plescia-Buchi, the renowned typographer, tattooist, and founder of storied creative agency Sang Bleu. The Spirit of Big Bang Sapphire Sang Bleu encapsulates the fusion of high-tech materials and intricate geometric designs, characteristic of Sang Bleu’s legacy, into a sapphire masterpiece. Maintaining the Spirit of Big Bang’s iconic 42 mm barrel shape, this watch showcases perfect ergonomics for all wrist sizes and genders without altering its powerful HUB4700 skeletonised automatic chronograph movement, which features a 50-hour power reserve and a Sang Bleu-inspired oscillating weight.

This model transcends traditional design boundaries by integrating sapphire not only in the dial but extending to the case and bezel, offering a new level of transparency that highlights Sang Bleu’s complex polygonal artistry. Achieving this required pushing sapphire machining techniques to their limits, ensuring the material’s hardness (9 on the Mohs scale) and flawless finish over 100 hours of work. Limited to 100 pieces, this collector’s edition blends the durability of diamond-like sapphire with the distinct Sang Bleu aesthetics, encapsulated by titanium elements and a minimalist yet visually captivating style.
