BOW, a Sheffield, UK-based robotics software company, raised £4M in Seed funding.

The round was led by Northern Gritstone, the investment business focused on science and technology businesses in the North of England, with co-investors Finance Yorkshire and Praetura Ventures as part of the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund II.

The company intends to use the funds to expand operations and its development efforts.

Led by CEO Nick Thompson and CTO Daniel Camilleri, BOW is robotics software company, working with robotic hardware manufacturers and OEMs, systems integrators, roboticists, and software developers to create portable robotics applications using their preferred programming language and operating system.

With BOW, any software developer can create and deploy robotics applications, port applications between different makes of robots and manage and orchestrate robot fleets. The universal robotics platform allows generalist software developers to create, manage and deploy complex robotics applications and opens up valuable new use cases in sectors that have previously been underserved by robotics.

This news followed the appointment in November 2024 of Liz Upton, Co-Founder of Raspberry Pi (LSE:RPI), as Chair of BOW’s board.
